Re-branding a branding studio

Bruce Mau Design is a multidisciplinary brand and design studio.

What if rebranding a design studio could create new opportunities for the team to connect, drive business growth, and engage both Toronto’s creative scene and the global community?

I joined the team as Global Communications Lead to re-envision Bruce Mau Design’s rebrand.

Role:
Led go-to-market launch strategy for BMD’s rebrand
Directed photography style and execution
Led content development across all channels (case studies, short-form video, interviews, etc.)
Brand messaging and visionining

Tools:
Figma, Miro, Mailchimp, Adobe, Google Analytics, and a lot of sticky notes.

👩🏻‍💻 A day in the life visiting Toronto to collaborate with my colleagues

This became a “friends and family” process that took a light touch instead of a deep dive. We had client and collaborator interviews. We held an all-studio workshop. We had tight little working sessions that would get scheduled and rescheduled as we balanced the daily needs and future-thinking.

Website re-design

A major component of the rebrand involved a complete website overhaul. We collaborated closely with the team at Executive Agency to redesign every detail.

Photography Direction

I led the execution and photography direction to capture the team in a way that reflected the internal culture—authentic and design-centric.

Content Strategy

We developed a new content strategy across all marketing channels for the rebrand - this included LinkedIn, Instagram, Email, and more. One of the major themes I pushed was "Behind the Scenes” which resulted in the highest engagement across all channels.
